waking monster wmm-12005 - release date 11-2004
Europa Soul Vol. 1 is the first of a series of E.P's to be released in the coming months on Waking Monster Media. This edition, as will the ones to follow, feature the works of artist/producers from Europe. 'Living The Dream' by Phil Hooton of Leeds, England has a retro, deep house flavor which is what Kerri Chandler liked about it when he played it to an enthusiastic crowd at the2004 Southport Weekender in England. It's followed by 'Bruk Up', a quirky, happy stepping track by North London's own Digital Tendencies. Their free form groove will drag you in slowly until you want more just as it ends. The two following gems are by Nermin featuring the vocal and keyboard talents of Ayaah. With enticing production by DJ producer Nermin Hodzic, hailing from Austria, everyone who has heard Ayaah have predictably asked if she from the US. Understandably, because 'Time' and 'Give In To You' are some soulful, jazzy house gems. Barbara Tucker liked their work enough to invite Ayaah to ap pear on her annual WMC 'Let The Singers Be Heard.'. The E.P. volume is a strong package and the ones to come will continue bringing the ground swell of European talent that's deserving of exposure beyond it's boarders. If you can't get enough, take them with you as real music ringtones available at wakingmonstermobile.com!
